How to transfer files between devices
Three steps, about ten seconds, and nothing to install on either device. RapidLink works between a phone and a laptop, two laptops, a work machine and a personal one — anything with a browser.

Create a session
Give it a memorable name like blue-river or get-the-job, or take one of the generated suggestions. The name becomes the URL.

Add files or text
Drag files in, paste from your clipboard, or type a message. Set how long the session should live — from a few minutes to a few hours.

Open it anywhere
Scan the QR code with any phone camera, or type the session name on the Join page from the other device. The files are there.

Is RapidLink free?
Yes. Creating sessions, uploading files and downloading them is completely free, with no account and no usage limits per person. The site is funded by a few unobtrusive ad slots.
Do I need an account to send files?
No. There is no sign-up, no email, and no login. You create a session, share the name or QR code, and that is the whole flow.
Are my files encrypted?
Yes, and it happens before anything leaves your device: text and files are encrypted in your browser with AES-256-GCM, so storage only ever holds ciphertext. Give a session a password and it becomes end-to-end encrypted — the key is derived from that password on your device and never reaches us, so not even RapidLink can read it. Without a password we hold the key, which is the trade that lets anyone open a drop by typing just its name.
How long do files stay available?
You choose the expiry when you create the session — typically a few minutes. When the timer runs out the session is marked expired and its files are deleted from storage. You can also close a session manually at any time.
What is the maximum file size?
Up to 50 MB per file, and you can add several files to one session. For a quick document, photo or archive that is plenty; RapidLink is built for fast hand-offs, not long-term storage.
Does it work between iPhone and Android, or Mac and Windows?
Yes. RapidLink runs entirely in the browser, so it works between any two devices regardless of operating system — iPhone to Windows, Android to Mac, Linux to anything.
Do I have to install an app?
No. It runs in any modern browser. You can optionally install it as a PWA from your browser menu for a home-screen icon and offline shell, but that is never required.
Can I share text and not just files?
Yes. Paste a message, a link, a config snippet or a block of code into the text field. The receiving device gets a one-tap copy button.
Can anyone guess my session name and see my files?
Session names are short by design, so treat a public session like a link anyone with the name could open. For anything sensitive, choose the private option and set a password — the content stays locked until the password is entered.
Is there a limit to how many sessions I can create?
There is light rate limiting to stop abuse, but normal use will never hit it. Create as many sessions as you need.
